Last night we went to dinner with a friend who is moving back to Bombay on Tuesday. It is not going to be the same again. It was a given that if there is something good to do, that he and his wife would be included.
Cricket, parties, functions, picnics, vacations, everything would have him as one of the participants. The commenting in the cricket games would be the part that I would sorely miss.
I wish him all the luck in whatever he ends up doing, including possibly coming back here. Of course, that would just rock!
Is it the end, or merely the beginning of something new?
What kind of a title is that? Hey, he’s just going back home, you know. Why should that be any kind of an end?? He’s been struggling here, and he’s given it enough time and his best shot. And now he’s making a move on, where he could find some cheese. Thats no end. Sure you will miss him and everything. But please for his sake and yours, don’t talk about the end and all, yaar.. !
I meant ‘end’ as in end of us spending time together. End of us watching cricket together and making fun of the team (You’re FIRED!), etc. He is thinking of maybe coming back…and hence the question posed – is it the end (of us doing all of those things) or the beginning (of his renewed life). No, I did not mean end of it all for HIM.
Hey. Just a quotation from one of the bestest movies shawshank redemption – thought it was appropriate -“Red: [narrating] I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.”
