Traffic in Los Angeles and Southern California

I drove up from San Diego to Los Angeles on Friday evening and that’s when I finally realized what causes most of the pain driving here. I was always in motion. There was no ‘parking lot’ situation like it happens when there is an accident. The cars are always moving, though at varying speeds at various points on the freeways. I was always taking my foot off the gas and on the brake and vice versa.

Do that for 1.5 or 2 hours each day, twice a day, and you will know why the LA traffic is one of the worst in the country.

I am glad I don’t have to do that on a daily basis.

  1. LA traffic is totally pathetic, any time of the day. Can’t believe how in a country where manpower resources are so expensive, one can afford such utter waste of people’s time..! Coming from Mumbai, I felt terrible spending an hour or more commuting each way.. They also complain about traffic in other parts of the US. But thats because the 10 minute drive has become a 15 minute one.. “oh.. how the traffic has increased..” 🙂

But the thing with people who live in LA is that they assume the commute and are almost always ok with it. A friend of mine has got into audio books and is finishing them at a rapid pace. It is only people visiting LA who feel the pain. And I am thinking you can equate Mumbai with LA in that respect. People do live with the commute, and now are finding ways and means to use the commute time to do some productive work.
