What a race by Michael Schumacher

What a race by Michael Schumacher! He fended off Alonso for what 30-35 laps and did a fabulous job at it, showing Alonso who’s the boss at Imola. Also, as fate would have it, it was a complete reversal of last year’s race where Schumy kept looking for a window to pass Alonso and could not, for pretty much 20-25 laps.

I loved the race, but more interestingly, the wife was also into it. That means, the race was truly exciting ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course, the formula 1 tracks are less and less pass-friendly, so passing was going to be extremely tough, but still, the fact that Alonso was trying to dip to the inside every now and then, kept the excitement to a very high level.

And of course, the pit stops. Ferrari did an amazing job with their pit stop of Schumy and that was basically the race because if after the second stop Alonso would have come up ahead of Schumy, there was no way Alonso would have given up the P1.

Anyway, all’s well that ends well. Of course, with P2, Alonso still made a lot of points buffer between him and Kimi and now, of course, him and Schumy.

As for Kimi, it was a pathetic qualifying for him, and the start, which was critical was not as good as he would have wanted, making him suffer in the middle of the pack for much of the race.

On to the next one …

@rajesh: uh-oh … I should change the name of the posts so that I don’t give up the results and then leave the decision of reading the posts to the readers :-(Sorry about spoiling it for you ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  2. i know this is completly off topic but if you ever want to see the worst of both usc and lsu fans check out the comments athttp://lsuoverusc.blogspot.comi believe you will agree with me that there are both usc and lsu fans who should come up with better insults than inbreds or fags

@katie: I cannot be bothered … I know we ‘won’ the Championship, and that’s that. LSU won the crystal ball and that’s that. Nothing wrong with having a split championship. What I don’t like and don’t appreciate is putting USC down because it is trying to say that it split the championship. Anyway, enough said with that year. Looking forward to a good 2006 ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Brilliant drive by Michael to keep off Fernando the fiend!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Pity that Massa could not make it onto the podium tho…Have friends who don’t particularly like Michael, but were cheering him on at Imola just because they wanted to see Renault’s winning streak broken!! Good one Ferrari!! Glad it worked out well for them at San Marino…Bring on Nurburgring, I say!!!

@ferrarista: Wow, you really don’t like Renault, eh? What were you doing when Ferrari was winning pretty much every race??I personally don’t feel happy because Renault lost, but more so because Ferrari won. Schumy needed to win just to keep it interesting this year. Renault has been dominating and they need some challenge. @ankit: will check out your site soon …

  6. @ Rpm – No you didnt spoil it at all. I happened to check the results at F1.com.Ferrari ruled the tracks and I believe the rules and some quality driving by Alonso has borken their streak.Renault are getting there NOW and its good for the sport that we have some competition. That’s the main reason I guess many were happy when Ferrari (or MS) pulled it through.Good drive by MS (I read) and kinda revenge I guess ’cause it was the other way around – last year!

  7. RPM: See, the thing is, I’m actually a Michael/Ferrari fan…have always been…So I was more than ecstatic when they won like every other race from 2000-2004…In fact, 2004 was my best year ever!! :)With Renault, its different…They are not my favourite team!! And at Imola, I was happy for two reasons…firstly that Michael won, and secondly that Fernando didn’t…I guess for me the Imola win was sort of a “in your face” thing for all the people who’d said that Michael’s age was getting to him…I love Schumi!! :)Forza Ferrari

@ferrarista: I am a HUGE Schumy/Ferrari fan but I was getting bored of him winning all the races a couple of years back. So I was in fact happy to see some variety on the podium :-)But yea, I loved the race and was very very happy for Schumy.
