Lage Raho Munnabhai

I forgot to write about my reaction to the new Munnabhai movie. Man, it was hilarious! I think I liked this more than the original.

And Arshad Warsi’s Circuit made me laugh the most in the movie. His nicknames for people were just too funny. Leakage, Notebook, etc. And his impromptu name Sarkeshwar … hahaha! Fabulous.

Of course, the side benefit of this movie is that some newer generation folks will get a quick idea of what Gandhiji’s principles were. And the cool thing is, it won’t seem like some oldie is shoving those principles down their throats.

Its more than a must-watch!

  1. 1. Everyone who comes out of the theatre after watching the second one, feels that it was better than the first. I almost felt that way. But I think thats an “immediate” reaction because one is really impressed. But looking back after a few days, I think the first one had a lot more meat, and it was all-in-all a better effort! One or the other way, an amazing sequel. 2. Read somewhere that it took about 50 drafts, before they zeroed in, to this theme, for the sequel. While a concept like Munnabhai lands itself to a ‘sequel’ potential, it is so important to get it right, and not just rush some junk out. Now, he has room to do a third one too.. and people will flock the cinema houses! BTW, two new movies have had great reviews. I have yet to catch them. Dor and Khosla ka Ghosla. Especially the first one.. a Nagesh Kukunoor film.

@spm: I think one of the reasons it was hilarious (not considering plot lines and subject matter much here) was Circuit. He’s the star of the show and whatever he was saying, made me laugh. The fact that it came so long after the first one (I hardly remember the first one) may have something to do with my ‘better than first one’ comment. Let me know how Dor and Khosla ka Ghosla turn out. Will have to wait for Netflix 😉
