Driest time of the year for sports

The end of the college football season, followed by the end of NFL creates a huge void in terms of following sports. The NBA is too early in its season and I don’t care about NHL much. Oh, there is baseball pitchers and catchers and all that, but I don’t care much about baseball either.

Formula 1 is about a month away and so is the Cricket World Cup. There’s some tennis and since USC is doing well, I am a lot more interested in college basketball than I was in the past few years.

And on top of that, we have this long weekend, so guess what I ended up doing – I watched the NBA All Star Saturday program! Yes, the skills competition, the shooting star, Charles Barkley making a fool of himself for raising some money for charity, and of course the slam dunk competition. It was entertaining, but was it worth really watching? I don’t think so.

So I am hoping now that the World Cup starts soon because once it starts it is going to be one long period of cricket and lots to talk about, write about.
