Formula 1 on CBS? Wow.

I was pleasantly surprised to see San Marino GP on CBS at 10am Pacific time today. I did not mind not able to see it live (I usually tape it and watch it around that time anyway), but it was good to see it on CBS.

The commentary team was trying its best to introduce the American public to F-1 terms and conditions. They explained what understeer is and what oversteer is, they explained the conditions in place this year (engines need to last 2 race weekends, for example), they explained how the 15K-19K rpm compares with a street car ;-)

I am ok with the ‘beginner’ commentary, as long as the sport gets more acceptance in this country and we see more programs and more live coverage on main channels so I don’t have to end up paying more for Speed channel.

CBS is going to telecast 3 more races this year, and those 3 don’t include the Indy GP. Wonder if abc is going to cover it. That would mean 5 races of the season will be on network TV. Cool!
