Michelin has announced that even though they were not legally asked to do so, they are going to refund all the tickets for this year’s Indiananpolis GP. And in addition they are going to give 20K tickets to next year’s race.

I think this is a wonderful gesture from the company to pre-emptively refund the tickets. They obviously know that they were the main reason the cars pulled out of the race. Rather than wait for the legal push-pull, they decided to go for it and regain some of the fans.

I think this step has made me take a lot of my anger towards Michelin away. I still think they are the ones to blame mainly for the fiasco, but what they have done has made me give them some respect. They are hurting right now with the potential losses and perhaps losing out the battle for tire supplies to F-1 if and when it becomes a single-tire championship.

It is always great to admit your faults and step up and apologize and do what is necessary to get the other party’s respect. They have mine. Good job, Michelin.
