I propose a 4-day week
#Why do we have to work 5 days in a week? I propose that we should have a 4-day week. I don’t care if I have to work on a Saturday, if I can get Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off.

Frenzy of emails and ‘action items’. I wonder if Office Space used the phrase ‘action items’, because it is so typical in today’s office.

This guy is truly having a dream season. Another flawless performance in Germany.
The question now is, how many races will he win this season.
And that means we have to just beat Sri Lanka. Not necessarily with a bonus point.
But the way the Indians played today, it does not seem like they are going to be able to win against SL.
A lot has been said about this team of late. The consistency being the main point of conversation. But in this tournament, they are hardly consistent. Hopefully this is the first tournament and hopefully they will only improve.
Fingers crossed.
This Indian performance is unexplainable. After losing Kaif, Pathan and Sachin are not trying to take any risks to up the scoring rate. Don’t know what their target is.
Stayed up pretty much all night to watch Pakistan flay the Indian bowlers for 300 runs. I am quite frustrated with the lack of effort in the field. Fielders fumbling, or not trying hard to get to the ball, missed chances, and much much more.
Pathan and Tendulkar bowled well at the end to restrict the total only to 300, because at one point it seemed like they could easily go to around 325-330.
But everything said and done, Indians look like they are going to lose this one. 300 is too stiff a target under lights in Sri Lanka, no matter how good the pitch is.
One more race, and one more DNF for Kimi. I think he is the only true competition to Schumi today and he was going so well till the time he crashed out.
Hopefully he is more consistent for the remaining part of the season and more importantly, next year.
Let’s hope so.
I see so many radio stations and TV channels devoting time to the 80’s music. We have a radio station that makes the entire weekend every weekend an 80’s only station. Of course, we are well aware of vh1’s ‘We are the 80s’. And there is an entire channel vh1 Classic. And satellite radio stations like XM Radio and Sirius have their own 80’s channels.
I love that music. I can pretty much listen to any song that’s played and relate or basically enjoy it. Maybe it’s just me, but maybe 80’s was the best decade for music.
Anyone beg to differ?
Taco Bell’s new ad campaign shows people coming out and shouting ‘I am full’. Well, that’s exactly how I felt after eating one (yea, just one) potato burrito. It is actually a beef and potato burrito, but I had it as beans and potato burrito.
It was so filling and so good. And they had me saying their ad jingle at the end. :-)
In these days of hectic work life and lesser and lesser communication, I think it is better to over communicate and be redundant than under communicate and have issues later.
Jenson Button was docked 10 spots because he wants to replace his engine. That means even he is on pole, he will start 11th.
Too bad, because he is a good driver who could challenge the front runners. Of course, we are not including Schumi in that list. He was fastest on Friday. Not trying to woof him, but he is on track for the pole position.
After 8 paid visits, I had the pleasure of getting a free hair cut at SuperCuts yesterday. The funny thing is that I felt good at the end to say, ‘I think it is free’. :-)
Speaking of hair cuts, it is weird that when I first went for a hair cut here, it felt creepy that a woman was cutting my hair. Yesterday it felt creepy because it was a man who cut my hair. All my life it has been men cutting my hair, but for some reason, I had gotten used to women cutting my hair. So it was just a little weird.
Here I am, writing so much about how to set up a blogger account and start blogging, and here I see today, a great ‘how-to’ for the same. This one is with pictures!
Nice.
I just saw the prices for Holland Cup on dish network. I think someone needs to talk to them and let them know that they cannot get away with such daylight robbery.
They have put $100 for the Holland Cup, which is going to have 4 games - 3 games plus a final. One hundred dollars. Are you kidding me? $25/game?? That is just unbelievable.
How can one raise this issue? It needs mass emailing/calling to dish network to let them know that they cannot just throw such high costs at consumers because of their monopolistic situation.
::fuming::
Was reading this story about Will Ferrell hosting a gala for the USC School of Cinema-Television.
Did not know that he is an alum. Cool! Add him to the list :-)
Going back to the topic of Sachin doing something for the team, I re-read the original comment, where SPM said that ‘wait for the bigger matches and then admire his skills’.
I think that statement is really unfair to him, and that is what sounds like the Indian media. Never satisfied with what he does.
He has had plenty of ‘big match’ moments where people like SPM (and the Indian media in general) have not bothered to stand up and proudly say that he is a great player. At that time, the reaction is ‘good, he is supposed to do that’.
So how does Sachin win this battle? He is obviously not a machine. Just try to put yourself in his shoes - millions of die hard fans wanting him to not only score, but score big; not only score big, but win matches; not only win matches, but win matches against big teams; not only win matches against big teams, but also destroy the opponents' big bowlers. Where does it end?
The expectations are understandable. But the support that he is getting, is not. He needs to get some more support from people who try to think that between Dravid and him, there can only be one great player, from people who think he is a machine and has to do all of the above-mentioned things all the time, from people who do not understand cricket. Because if they do, they will shut up and look at what he has done in 15 years without any real drop in consistency.
I am not trying to woof him for his next match. I am knocking hard on wood, so that he continues the good work that he has done for his team through his career. He may fail in his next game and the fickle-minded fans will come back at me quickly and laugh. The next game is the ‘big game’. And all my arguments will be negated if he fails to score or ‘win the match’ for India.
Big deal. I don’t think he needs to prove anything to anyone. Those of you who are the bandwagon people, can drop off the bandwagon, because the fan wagon will continue to roll.
Sure, it was only Bangladesh, but his innnings the post-match conference has prompted a good article.
Hope people understand him and his changed style of batting before passing judgement.
There was an interesting argument I was reading about (or listening to) recently. If you are a blog author, should you give a balanced view on all that you have to say? Are you supposed to be fair?
I say, no. I am writing because I want to tell the world what I feel. If I feel biased on certain topics, I will be. I will give my point of view. There is no need to be journalistic.
And I mean it. I don’t want my blog to be Newsweek-worthy. I want readers to know what I think and I will surely do that. Of course, I think quite impartially most of the times, so you will see counter arguments from me in the same post, but at the end, there is always ‘my point’.
You’ll know. :-)
Yesterday, the commentators gave a startling fact - Tendulkar wins a man of the match award once in 6.5 games! Yesterday he added one more to the kitty.
3 wickets.
82 not out.
Finished the game.
Won it for India.
Anyone have any questions?
I am just amazed at how cell phone companies have put us in this constant struggle to make the minutes of the plan enough, but not go over.
Thank goodness for the ‘View remaining minutes’ feature on AT&T Wireless' website - I have been relatively ok for the past two months. But the month before that, I went ridiculously over the plan minutes. I mean, ridiculous in the real sense.
That is the problem when you use your cell phone partially on business work. You never know when you went for 75 minutes! One huge conference call and boom, you are going to be over your limits. For that month I did not check the website for tracking the number of minutes remaining and I unfortunately had quite a few conference calls that I used my cell phone for.
Bad idea. I went over my plan. Way over.
I half thought of upgrading my plan, but then I realized it was not the plan at fault. It was the management of the plan.
Why can’t we just have unlimited minutes for all the time?
I find it ridiculous that beating West Indies and New Zealand could make England move into second spot on ICC table. I must admit that New Zealand was rated quite high at the time, and that England beat them well, but #2?
Who thinks England is the #2 test team in the world today?
Begs the question again - what’s the best ratings system? Is there a good one at all?
Check it out on the right hand side - there is a search box which you can use to look for articles in the past. Given that I am writing a lot of random crap, I thought a search bar would be good to have readers get to posts easily.
Let me know what you think. There are several players in that area and I chose one randomly. Surprisingly, google search was not that cool. Maybe I did not play around with it that much.
